 Somvar Vrat Katha (Monday Fast Story)

Once, in ancient times, there lived a very poor Brahmin. He was a great devotee of Lord Shiva, but despite his devotion, he faced many hardships. One day, tired of his troubles, he visited a temple of Lord Shiva and prayed:

“O Mahadev, please show me a way to remove my poverty.”

Hearing his sincere prayer, Lord Shiva appeared before him and blessed him with a Shivling. Shiva said:

“Worship this Shivling every Monday with full faith. Your wishes will surely come true.”

The Brahmin took the Shivling home and began performing Somvar Vrat with great devotion.
He offered water, milk, and bel leaves to the Shivling and recited Shiva’s name all day.
Very soon, his life began to change. His home, once empty, became filled with joy, wealth, and peace.

People around him were surprised and asked how he became so prosperous.
The Brahmin replied:

“It is all due to the blessings of Lord Shiva and the power of Monday fasting.”

From that day onward, many people started observing the Somvar fast, believing that Shiva fulfills the desires of those who worship Him with devotion.
