Brihaspativar Vrat Katha (Thursday Story in English)

Once there was a very rich and kind-hearted man. He had a beautiful wife, but she did not respect God and never observed fasts. She also disliked saints and Brahmins.

One day, Lord Brihaspati decided to teach her a lesson and came to her house in the form of a saint. He asked for some food.

The woman became angry and said,
"Go away! I will not give you anything."

The saint blessed her and said,
"May you lose all your wealth because of your pride."

Slowly, her husband lost all his money, house, and property. They became very poor. The wife regretted her behavior and realized that insulting God brings suffering.

One day, she met a kind woman who was observing the Thursday fast. That woman explained,
"If you worship Lord Brihaspati with faith, all your problems will go away."

The rich man’s wife decided to start the Thursday vrat honestly. She cleaned her house, lit a lamp, offered yellow flowers and food to God, and listened to the Brihaspativar Vrat Katha with devotion.

Due to her true devotion, Lord Brihaspati became pleased. Lord blessed the couple again with wealth, happiness, and respect. Soon they regained everything they had lost.

  • Never insult anyone who comes to your door.
