 Ravivar Vrat Katha (Sunday Fast Story) – In English

Once upon a time, there was a very poor Brahmin man who lived with his wife. They worked very hard, but still they always struggled for food and money. Their life was full of problems, and they often felt sad.

One day, the Brahmin decided to visit the temple of Surya Dev (Sun God). He prayed with a pure heart and said,
“O Surya Dev, please remove our troubles and bless us with peace and happiness.”

Surya Dev was pleased with his devotion and appeared before him. He blessed the Brahmin and said:

“Observe a fast on every Sunday with full faith. Offer water to me during sunrise, eat simple food, speak kindly, and help others. Your home will soon be filled with prosperity.”

The Brahmin happily went home and told his wife everything. Together, they began to keep the Ravivar Vrat every week.

Slowly, their life changed.

  • Their poverty disappeared.

  • Their home became filled with food and happiness.

  • They gained respect in society.

  • Peace returned to their family.

One day, a neighbor who was jealous asked the Brahmin the secret of his success. The Brahmin humbly replied:

“We simply keep Surya Dev’s fast every Sunday with honesty and devotion.”

The neighbor also started the vrat, not with faith but greed. Because his intention was wrong, he did not receive any blessings.

This story teaches us that Ravivar Vrat is most fruitful when done with a pure heart, devotion, and good deeds.
