Tuesday Story (Mangalwar Vrat Katha) in English

Once there lived a poor but honest woodcutter. He worked very hard, but he still struggled to earn enough for his family. Every Tuesday, he would visit a small temple of Lord Hanuman and pray with full devotion. He never missed a single Tuesday.

One day, as he was returning from the forest after cutting wood, he felt very tired and sat under a tree. Suddenly, an old saint appeared before him. The saint said, “My child, I am pleased with your devotion. Tell me what you want.”

The woodcutter folded his hands and said, “I do not want riches. I only want peace and enough food for my family.”

The saint smiled and gave him a small magical bowl. He said, “Whenever you need food, just say, ‘Bowl, give me food.’ It will always fill itself. But remember: never use it with greed.”

The woodcutter thanked the saint and returned home. From that day, his life changed. Whenever his children were hungry, he used the bowl, and it gave fresh food. Slowly, his poverty ended, and he lived a peaceful life.

But one day, the woodcutter’s greedy neighbor saw the bowl and stole it. He tried to make it produce gold and riches, but the bowl did not obey. The bowl stopped working because it was used with greed.

The neighbor ran back to the woodcutter and returned it, asking for forgiveness. The woodcutter forgave him and continued to live with devotion and simplicity.

It is said that those who worship Lord Hanuman with faith on Tuesdays receive strength, courage, and protection. This story reminds us that devotion and honesty bring true blessings, not greed.
