The Story of Brihaspativar Katha
Once upon a time, there lived a very wealthy king who had everything—palaces, riches, and a happy family. But despite all his wealth, he was unhappy because he did not have wisdom or peace in his life.
One day, a great sage visited his kingdom. The king asked him, “Why do I feel empty even after having everything?”
The sage replied, “You have ignored the blessings of Lord Brihaspati, the Guru of the gods. Without wisdom and devotion, wealth brings no peace. If you worship Brihaspati on Thursdays with sincerity, your life will become balanced and peaceful.”
The sage then explained the rituals:
- Observe a fast on Thursdays (Brihaspativar vrat)
- Wear yellow clothes, as yellow is sacred to Brihaspati
- Offer yellow flowers, turmeric, and gram flour sweets
- Read or listen to Brihaspati katha
- Pray with devotion for knowledge and prosperity
The king followed the instructions with full faith. Every Thursday, he fasted and prayed sincerely. Slowly, his life began to change. He became wiser, calmer, and started making better decisions. His kingdom also prospered, and people were happier under his rule.
From that day, the king believed that true wealth is not just money, but wisdom, discipline, and spiritual strength—all blessings of Lord Brihaspati.
